Many people decide to buy a second-hand quad bike to enjoy
the sport of adventurers. Choosing the right quad requires time to choose
correctly and study different options.
In Dubai, your insurance brokerage, we are experts in the quad
insurance, so we know what are the tricks and steps you must follow to buy a
second-hand quad or new quad bikes for sale Africa.
The quad multiplies the driver's weight 10 or 15 times. Your
safety should be the first thing when buying a quad.
The first thing we have to assess the quad is the use we
want to give it. We will have to choose ATV, sports, or mixed quad models,
which share features of each other.
What should you look for when buying a used Quad?
In the same way that we told you the tips to buy a
second-hand motorcycle, with the quad, we will do the same.
And there are several features that will let you know if the
Quad has been given good or bad use.
Handlebar Grip Rubber
Important wear of the upper part of the rubber indicates
that the ATV bike has enough
kilometers. Also, if at first glance the handlebar seems bent, it has tipped
over.
Possible Scratches
In light switches, gas triggers, or the odometer. These are
indicative details that the ATV has been upside down.
If the quad has no odometer, you can look at the wear of the
chassis by rubbing the boots and handles and cuffs.
Engine, Brakes and Exhaust Pipe
Engine: You must
start it, that they don't show it to you already hot because a hot engine makes
less noise and less smoke than a cold one. This way, you can also check the
battery and starter motor status. If when you start the quad, it emits white or
blue smoke, discard buying it.
Brakes: If the
quad has not been used, the brakes will be rusty.
Exhaust pipe:
When you start the quad, you should listen carefully because if it makes a sound
like a tractor, it will mean that it will have a pore and would not pass to
ITV.
Front Trapeze and Steering
It is the most delicate part. You should notice that the
direction is not crooked or has a hardness at some point in its path, as it
would be a sign that it has overturned. It should not show movement in its
union with the chassis, as it is a sign of wear and kilometers above.
We must also observe the correct movement of the trapezoids
in their union with the chassis, which must also be smooth and without
hardpoints.
We must check that the front wheels are visually parallel to
each other, looking at them from above and with a slight negative fall. If this
is not the case, a blow may have damaged the steering braces or the kneecaps,
and alignment is necessary. When driving, we can notice it by the tendency to
turn more towards one side than towards the other, as well as irregular wear
between the inside and outside of the tire.
Tires and Tires
They can be somewhat damaged by some sporadic blow without
consequences or scratches; after all, they do not circulate on the road like
cars. However, excessively damaged tires indicate the treatment the ATV has
had.
As for the tires, we can use them to haggle. In the case
that they are, the series will be a point in favor.
Suspensions
To check the suspension of the second-hand quad, we must
press down with all the weight of the body, and we should notice a hydraulic
resistance when lowering (not only the spring) and also specific retention when
climbing, with a characteristic whistle. We must also check that there are no
oil leaks or severe blows.
Clutch
You should not skate, the latter must be checked by standing
still until the fifth speed (in those of gears, of course) and try to get gas
out thoroughly by treading the brakes to the fullest. If the engine stalls, the
discs are excellent. Otherwise, you will notice how it skates.
Chain
Must present good looks. Correct tensioning and greasing of
the chain will significantly extend the life of both the chain and the crown
and pinion.
A chain in poor condition or poorly adjusted and lubricated
can steal up to 15% of the power of our engine.
Is Quad Insurance Mandatory?
